Large Camphor Wood & Leather Campaign Trunk
#9477AP. Circa 1820. England. This campaign trunk is made of leather covered camphor wood with brass trim including decorative nail head trim. There is a torn paper label nailed to one side with some very old initials written on it. Not only does this trunk have great beauty and amazing patina it is very useful. It makes an excellent coffee table, end table, or a functional storage piece at the foot of a bed for blankets, comforters, or clothing. Campaign trunks this large were usually only used by higher ranking officers, who carried more clothing when deployed. Much better condition than most campaign trunks of this age. Cracks in the wood. wear to leather, dents in brass. Torn paper label, evidence of some old repairs, all commensurate with age that add to the character of the piece rather than detracting. 41.75" long x 21.25" wide x 19" tall. $2,400.00.
