Empire Center Table, Mahogany with Marble Top
#A257FP. Circa 1840. France. This exceptional Classical center table's design is based on artifacts from the ancient Greco-Roman world. The base is the work of a highly skilled carver and the top of an excellent marble cutter. The base is made of mahogany, mahogany veneer, and French oak secondary wood. Each clawed foot has an original brass castor underneath. The removable marble top is a mixture of black & grey with white flecks and has an elaborate 4 ring band around the top and a reeded edge on the side. This Empire table is perfect for the foyer or used as an occasional table in the living room. Very good condition. Strong and sturdy. Small chip in under side of marble edge. Very minor dings and mars in wood & mahogany commensurate with age. 38" diameter x 28.5" tall. $4,900.00.
