Belle Epoque 1 Drawer Salon Table With Scenic Inlay
#A253FP.Circa 1880. France. This exceptional Louis XVI style small table has an amazing hand-inlaid bucolic scene on the top featuring a young couple reading poetry amid ancient ruins. It is made of a variety of woods including hare wood, chestnut, satinwood, amboyna, mahogany, maple, and padauk. This salon table has herringbone & string inlay panels on all four sides (a toutes faces) which makes it perfect for any place in a room. There is line inlay on the mahogany legs and on the canted corner blocks. The one drawer has gilt hand-cast pulls and brass line inlay. The feet terminate in brass caps. The piece has a wonderful patina with its original finish. The use of inlay on this table is a testament to a highly skilled cabinetmaker. Very good condition - minor old & new repairs. Replaced caps on legs. Minor cracks and slight lifting in the scenic veneer on top. minor scratches commensurate with age. Strong and sturdy. 28.5" wide x 17.5" deep x 28" tall. $1,750.00.
