Empire European Birdseye Maple Stand

#9986FP. Circa 1820. Belgium. This beautiful Empire drop-leaf 2-drawer stand is a real show-stopper! Made in Brussels, Belgium in the early 19th Century of highly-figured birdseye maple. Originally it had a sewing basket that has been replaced with a slide-out leather writing surface with gold embossed edge. The beautiful and skillful detailing includes S-scroll legs, acorn finials, and bun feet. The cross stretcher at the bottom has a velvet-covered foot rest. Age cracks (some filled.) Finish restored about 20 years ago. Original sewing basket frame converted into a writing surface. Foot rest reupholstered last 20 years. 22.5" wide (leaves down) x 35" wide (leaves up) x 38" deep x 29.5" tall. $2,500.00.
