Federal Carved and Gilt Girandole /Convex Mirror
#9408PP. Circa 1810. Probably New York. Carved and giltwood convex mirror with candle arms (girandole), featuring spread wing eagle pediment, with ebonized reeded surround, flanked by spiral twist sconces, terminating in carved and gilt wing and rosette. Probably made in New York. This mirror was included in an exhibition "North Carolina Collects" at the Mint Museum, Charlotte, The piece has an excellent patina with its original gilt. Excellent condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Pediment carvings re-stabilized at back; some shrinkage cracks to frame; gilding loss- Our conservator carefully preserved the original gilt while cleaning and repairing the frame. Original mirror re-silvered. 30" wide x 42" tall x 6" deep. $7,800.00.
