Gilt Eagle Weathervane on Stand
#A134AB. Circa 1910. American. This gilt American eagle will be a real show-stopper in whatever space you display it. It originally graced the cupola or barn eave in New England as a functioning weathervane. Wind blowing against the eagle's spread wings caused it to swivel, pointing the arrowhead in the direction from which the wind was blowing. It is now mounted on a steel museum stand for display indoors. The eagle is perched on an orb above an arrow, all of which is hand-made of copper with gilt finish in excellent condition. . It still swivels (and is removable from the stand). Gilt restored. Minor dents and dings. The arrow may have originally had feathers, but if so they disappeared years ago. 38.5" wide x 27.5" long x 22.5" tall. $1,600.00.
