Empire Mahogany 2-Drawer Stand
#9993FP. Circa 1810. France. This high style 2-drawer stand is made of mahogany and mahogany bookmatched veneer with French pine secondary wood. The piece has a finished back, so it can be used away from the wall. It has hand-cast gilt brass (ormolu) mounts and pulls. The top is dark gray/black marble with white flecks that resemble the stars in the Milky Way. Stands such as this were origially used as bedside tables for the wall beds that were fashionable in the Empire period in Europe. Today they are also perfect for use as end tables in the living room or as accent pieces -- and of course still wonderful as bedside tables. Restored French polish, replaced pulls, minor old and new repairs, minor chips and dings. Marble in good condition. Strong and sturdy. 18.5" wide x 12.5" deep x 31.75" tall. $2,400.00.
