Large Samson Porcelain Bowl in the Chinese Export Armorial Taste
#9840AP. Circa:1910. France. This circular bowl has deep sides that are centered by a hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet and encircled within a band of garlands and raised circular motifs, with gilt highlights. An armorial crest on the side features hounds, crown, and stars. Excellent for use as a centerpiece or for floral arrangements. Edmé Samson et Cie was created in 1845. The manufacturer, which continued production until 1969, is known for copying designs of other porcelain makers. Samson Ceramics copied designs by Chelsea, Meissen, Sevres as well as many Chinese export porcelain items. Not all Samson items are marked. Moreover, marks on many items of this manufacturer were removed in order to pass for originals. Good Condition, Original Condition Unaltered, Some Imperfections. 14ʺ diameter × 6ʺ tall.
