Oil on Board "The Butcher"

#5890PP. Circa 1815. Denmark. Striking portrait of a young man in a somewhat Primitive manner - "Wilsleff" written on back - other faint script on back and frame appears to be Danish - original frame and wooden back. The previous owner says this once had a hand- written note attached to the back (now lost) saying, in Danish, that this was the town butcher in a small Danish town. Condition: excellent - minor losses to edge of painting - frame touched up about 15 years ago. Framed dimensions: 12" tall x 9.75" wide x 1.5" deep. $1,500.00.
